Ongoing education and training is important for supporting BCHR colleges in performing their regulatory work in a complex environment.
BC Health Regulators (BCHR) plan and host approximately two symposiums per year to help colleges’ staff and board members gain standardized knowledge and skills for performing their duties competently and efficiently.
Past symposium topics have covered issues including:
- Governance trends and changes to regulatory approaches from around the world;
- Evidence-based approaches to investigating and resolving complaints about patient boundary violations;
- Advancing the commitment to Cultural Safety and Humility (2019 Spring Symposium).
BCHR has also developed and delivers a “Governance 101” program for college boards.
