BCHR issues request for proposal (RFP) for legal counsel services to support HPOA Project (key legal frameworks)
BCHR is seeking qualified legal counsel services to assist in the analysis, development, and implementation of key legal frameworks, processes, and documentation under the incoming Health Professions and Occupations Act (HPOA), specifically for the following areas:
- Identity Protection Orders
- Summary Protection Orders
- Reconsiderations and Reviews
Background: In 2022, the B.C. government introduced and passed the Health Professions and Occupations Act (HPOA), a significant piece of legislation designed to modernize and improve the regulatory framework for health professions in the province. The HPOA, set to come into force in 2025, will replace the existing Health Professions Act (HPA) and bring about substantial changes to the processes, procedures, and legal requirements currently in place under the HPA. These changes are intended to enhance the effectiveness, transparency, and fairness of the regulatory system, with a focus on ensuring public protection.
The deadline for submissions of proposals is 5 p.m. PDT on Friday, March 21, 2025 . Late proposals may not be considered.
